Former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram was really angry at Babar Azam-led Pakistan side following their 6-run loss against the Indian cricket team in match 19 of the ongoing edition of the T20 World Cup 2024 which will be played at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York, on June 9 (Sunday). While criticising the team for their performance, he accidentally also revealed that players have internal rift between them and that they don't talk to each other.
Wasim Akram lashed out at the Pakistan team
Pakistan batters once again failed to perform and what makes it worse is that they only had the target of 120 runs to beat India and despite having wickets in hand, they had to face defeat. Wasim Akram who was part of the commentary team was left furious and slammed the players like Rizwan, Fakhar Zaman, and Iftikhar Ahmed by saying that they have been playing cricket for 10 years but still have no game sense.
"They have been playing cricket for 10 years, and I can’t teach them. Rizwan has no game awareness. He should have known that Bumrah was given the ball to take wickets and that the wise thing would have been to play his deliveries cautiously. But Rizwan went for a big shot and lost his wicket. Iftikhar Ahmed knows one shot on the leg side. He has been a part of the team for years but doesn’t know how to bat. I can’t go and tell about the game awareness to Fakhar Zaman. Pakistani players think that if they don’t perform well, the coaches will be sacked, and nothing will happen to them" Akram said on Star Sports.
Akram reveals that Pakistan players have internal rift
Although, Akram did not take any name but amidst his furious rant, he accidentally also revealed that some players inside the Pakistan team don't talk to each other and he told PCB that these players should be made to sit at home as they don't put the country first.
"It is time to keep the coaches and change the entire team. There are players who don’t want to talk to each other. This is international cricket, and you play for your country. Make these players sit at home," Akram added.
