On 12th September, Thursday night's match between AFC East rivals the Buffalo Bills and the Miami Dolphins saw Tua Tagovailoa suffer a concussion in the second half as the Bills defeated the Dolphins 31-10.
What exactly happened on the pitch?
As the quarterback Tagovailoa looked up and thought of getting some extra yards, he lowered his body and helmet into Damar Hamlin, the safety for the Buffalo Bills. At the time of the impact, his head was rather in an odd position before hitting the ground.
Tagovailoa suffered multiple concussions back in the 2022 National Football League (NFL) season, and it was the third overall of his career. Out of the three concussions Tagovailoa has had, this was the most concerning.

Players react to Tua Tagovailoa concerning injury
Many people think that after sustaining his third concussion in NFL history, he should hang up his boots from the sport.
During Friday's briefing, Las Vegas Raiders coach and former NFL linebacker Antonio Pierce thinks he should stop playing and take care of his family. "I’ve never witnessed anything like what has happened to him three times. … Take care of your family," Pierce added.
Former quarterback Brett Favre got flashbacks of his hits back in the day and wished for a speedy recovery. His post on X read, "Like many of you, I saw the concussion Tua suffered last night. It was chilling to see him blackout, and I had flashbacks from the hits taken during my career, I just want to send prayers to Tua's family and hope he recovers soon."
Former NFL tight end Shannon Sharpe also considers that after his recent concussion, Tagovailoa should retire. His concussions are getting worse and worse and he’s a young man with his entire life ahead of him."
Former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown also thinks the same and he tweeted, "In all seriousness Tua may want to rethink playing football in the future depending on severity Concussions not something to mess with."
