Story Highlights:

During an appearance on the Dudes on Dudes podcast, Gronkowski revealed that his post-NFL life has been unexpectedly demanding.

Even in retirement, Gronkowski remains a hot commodity.

Four-time Super Bowl champion Rob Gronkowski, widely regarded as one of the greatest tight ends in NFL history, is openly flirting with the idea of returning to the league—again. Despite retiring in 2022 after a storied career with the New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the 35-year-old recently hinted that his anticipated comeback is near.

"Football Might Be Easier": Gronkowski Questions Retirement Decision

During an appearance on the Dudes on Dudes podcast, Gronkowski revealed that his post-NFL life has been unexpectedly demanding. Juggling roles as an analyst, podcast host (alongside ex-teammate Julian Edelman), and entrepreneur, he admitted feeling more drained than during his playing days.

“I was talking to my brother yesterday, and I told him, ‘Hey, I might as well go back to football because I’m grinding harder than I ever grinded before, and I’m not even playing football,’” Gronkowski said. “Playing ball would be easier than what I’ve been doing over the last six months.”

Though he stopped short of confirming a return, the five-time Pro Bowler acknowledged his lingering competitive drive. “I appreciate all my jobs, but the fire is still there,” he added.

NFL Teams Line Up: Bengals’ Burrow, Broncos Emerge as Suitors

Even in retirement, Gronkowski remains a hot commodity. Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow personally reached out to recruit him in 2022 after Gronkowski praised Burrow’s Brady-like poise during a media interview.

“After I retired, Joe texted me: ‘Yo Gronk, I’d love for you to come to the Bengals,’” Gronkowski recalled on his podcast. Initially skeptical, he later confirmed the message was genuine. While talks stalled, the door remains open.

Meanwhile, the Denver Broncos have surfaced as another potential destination. According to Denver Sports analyst Cecil Lammey, Gronkowski’s family ties to the franchise (his brothers Chris and Dan briefly played there) and admiration for head coach Sean Payton could tip the scales.

“Sources say Gronk loves Denver and respects Payton’s system,” Lammey reported. “Pairing with rookie QB Bo Nix adds to the appeal.”

A Third Act? Gronkowski’s Legacy of Comebacks

Gronkowski famously unretired in 2020 to join Tom Brady in Tampa Bay, securing his fourth Super Bowl ring. If he returns, he’ll likely target a contender with championship potential.

“He’s weighing options carefully,” an insider noted. “It’s about legacy, not just logistics.”

As speculation swirls, fans and teams alike await the tight end’s next move—one that could redefine his legendary career.
