Story Highlights:

Kansas City Chiefs will take on Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl LIX.

The Super Bowl 2025 will be held at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on February 9, 2025.

Kansas City Chiefs are on the quest to win the Super Bowl for the third consecutive time.

Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs are on the brink of making an unprecedented history. Should they manage to get hold of the Philadelphia Eagles this Sunday in New Orleans, then it will be their third straight Super Bowl win in a row. This is a feat that no team has ever achieved in the rich history of the NFL and the Chiefs are just a win away from living the impossible.

Loss Won't Affect the Legacy of Mahomes

According to Chris Carton, while a 3-peat is certainly a phenomenal accomplishment and may go down as a record that will never be mirrored it is still a record and may not affect Mahomes' legacy even if the Chiefs lose on the day against the Eagles.

“Nothing… It’s not gonna change a damn thing about how we think about him. It’s not gonna change his legacy, it’s not gonna change the narrative. Five Super Bowl appearances, if he loses, he’s 3-2 in Super Bowls. If he wins this, I get it three straight. Four of five, great, rarified air. If the Kansas City Chiefs lose this Super Bowl to the Eagles, does your opinion on Mahomes change one bit. No? So, it means nothing,” Carton said during the Breakfast Ball show.

Patrick Mahomes Will Always Remain Behind Tom Brady

In the backdrop of the Super Bowl LIX, it comes as an open secret that should the KVs get the job done once again at the grandest stage then the legacy of their quarterback Patrick Mahomes would supersede that of NFL legend Tom Brady. The popular belief is that Brady has never won a 3-peat in his career and thus if Mahomes goes on to achieve the milestone then it should take him above the former Patriots' QB.

Contrary to the mass opinion, FS1 pundit Chris Carton is of the view that even the 3-peat won't put Mahomes above Tom. Carton believes that greatness should be measured by the number of Super Bowl titles and not by back-to-back titles.

“I think he’s the 2nd-best QB of all-time already. I’m never gonna make him No. 1, until he wins seven or eight. So my opinion of him’s not gonna change one way or the other, nor is yours. So, winning a three-peat’s nice, little feather in your cap, I did something that Brady didn’t. That’s what this is about, it’s a one-v-one conversation. What does he have to do, for people to make the argument he’s better than Brady? I’m not ready to make that argument.”
