Philadelphia Eagles legend and Super Bowl champion Jason Kelce is stepping into the world of late-night television with his new show, They Call It Late Night with Jason Kelce. This personality driven, one hour program will air during the NFL postseason, providing fans with a blend of entertainment, comedy, and insightful NFL discussion.
In his debut late night venture, Kelce will take audiences on a five episode journey from Philadelphia's Union Transfer concert venue. The show promises to showcase his dynamic personality and infectious humor, both virtually and in studio. Kelce, known for his larger than life character, will offer a mix of sports talk, celebrity interviews, and live music from SNACKTIME, a beloved Philadelphia band known for its funky blend of soul, hip hop, and rock.
Celebrity Guests and Special Appearances
The show will feature a star-studded lineup of guests, including basketball icon Charles Barkley, NFL analyst Brian Baldinger, and rapper Lil Dicky (aka Dave Burd). These personalities will join Kelce as they delve into various NFL topics, injecting humor and lightheartedness into the conversation.
Kelce Reflects on the New Venture
Jason Kelce recently spoke to Action News about his excitement and nerves as he makes the leap into latenight television. "There is something really fun in trying something new and doing something you've never done before," Kelce explained. "It's incredibly nervewracking, you feel very vulnerable, but it's also exhilarating and exciting."
The show blends humor, NFL discussions, and tributes to the athletes and fans who make the sport what it is. Kelce emphasized the unique nature of the show, saying, "It's an entertainment show combined with talking about something we all love, as well as honoring and paying tribute to the players who have played it and the fans that enjoy it."
Preparing for LateNight TV
To ease into the transition from pro athlete to television host, Kelce took steps to prepare. "I actually went to an improv studio out in LA. I went to Upright Citizens Brigade. I didn't do any improv comedy, but they do a set, essentially you do a monologue. You improvise a story on the spot. So we did some things to prepare for things like this and get a little more comfortable," he shared.
Family Affair and Upcoming Episodes
The first few episodes feature well known names and familiar faces, including a personal touch with Kelce's pregnant wife, Kylie, joining in on the action. The show is set to air five episodes, with each installment promising fresh laughs and insights from Kelce and his guests.
