A look at Davis Webb's career path
Davis Webb, 29, has had an interesting journey through the National Football League (NFL). Originally a third-round pick by the New York Giants in the 2017 draft, Webb's career trajectory has been marked by a series of moves across different teams. He was in the second year of a four-year, $3.61 million contract when the Giants waived him after the preseason.
Following his departure from the Giants, Webb was signed by the New York Jets and initially placed on their practice squad. He was later promoted to the Jets’ active roster. In 2021, Webb joined the Buffalo Bills, where he made his first game appearance, providing valuable backup support for the team.
After a brief stint with the Bills, Webb returned to the Giants for the 2022 season, only to be added to their practice squad. His most recent move came in 2023 when the Denver Broncos hired him as their quarterbacks coach, a role in which he has played a pivotal part in the development of young quarterbacks like Bo Nix.
Despite a relatively short playing career, Webb has shown significant coaching potential, having appeared in just two games across his career with the Bills and Giants. In those appearances, he completed 23 of 40 passes, totaling 168 yards and one touchdown.
As the Saints look to the future, Webb’s experience and ability to nurture young talent could make him an intriguing candidate to take the reins of the team.
