Patrick Mahomes and Tom Brady were not compared as much before the ongoing season, but the story has changed and they are being compared like Joe Montana and Brady were. There have been positive comparisons till now but one NFL analyst feels that Mahomes is on track for negative comparison, which is not his fault.

What did NFL analyst Shannon Sharpe say on First Take?

On the 30th September episode of 'First Take', NFL analyst Shannon Sharpe compared the Kansas City Chiefs without Tyreek Hill with the New England Patriots in 2010.

"At some point in time, as great a quarterback as you are, and we saw that with Tom Brady, as the talent pool started to drain in New England, even his greatness wasn't able to lift a sinking ship," Sharpe said.

"At some point in time, it's going to catch up, because you're going to start asking guys to play that you weren't counting on. There's a reason why they're called backups," Sharpe added.

Brady made deep playoff runs from 2005 until 2013 but could not win anything. Many blamed the other players surrounding Brady. However, the start of the 2014 season changed everything as Brady came back with a vengeance. Players like Rob Gronkowski and Julian Edelman were at the peak of their careers.

Mahomes sees himself under more pressure than ever after Tyreek Hill left the Kansas City Chiefs and Travis Kelce is growing old.

Patrick Mahomes' slump continues

The quarterback for the Chiefs has thrown 50 touchdowns in a season. Many fans feel it's been like a lifetime since he portrayed that level of dominance. This season Mahomes has thrown for six touchdowns and five interceptions. His completion percentage has continued to climb but his ability to score with his arm hasn't.

Mahome slump isn't new as it started in the regular season last year and continued into this year too. In the last nine regular season games for Mahomes, he has a 1:1 touchdown-interception ratio or worse.
