Reality star Wes Bergmann recently made headlines for claiming he knew about Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift’s relationship long before it became public. However, after his comments sparked widespread attention, Bergmann has since backtracked, stating that his remarks were taken out of context.
During an episode of The Social Game Podcast with Michele Fitzgerald and Kellie Nalbandian, Bergmann shared that he used to live in the same exclusive gated community in Leawood, Kansas City, as Travis Kelce. This proximity, he claimed, gave him insider knowledge about Kelce and Swift’s relationship.
“He’s an enigma — on one hand, he’s like this big, tough football player,” Bergmann said of Kelce. “On the other, he’s going to have about 12 Taylor Swift songs written about him.”
Bergmann also revealed that he had tried to inform Fitzgerald about the relationship months before it became public. “Okay, and on that note, I was like the first person to know about any of this stuff, and I tried to tell this woman a long time ago,” he said, referring to Fitzgerald. “‘They are together, just so you know,’ and she didn’t believe it.”
Fitzgerald defended her initial skepticism, explaining, “She loves a brooding artist, usually they are a bit scrawnier, they’re kind of like womanizers in a lot of ways. And then you have him who seems chivalrous, an all-American football player, and he has just been winning and crushing.”
Backtracking on His Statements
Following the podcast episode’s release in February, Bergmann took to X (formerly Twitter) on March 4 to clarify his comments. “Omg y’all I’m so sorry and confused,” he wrote. “Everything being reported on is none of my business. My contribution to this was taken out of context and said in what I thought was relative obscurity, but it obviously wasn’t.”
He added, “He moved in November, that’s all I know. I told Michele, who is a giant fan, ‘Hey, this is serious.’ She didn’t believe me for six months. That was the intention of the comment.” Bergmann concluded by stating, “Again, it was taken out of context, but I shouldn’t be talking about it anyway. So consider this the last time I do.”
