Smart and Ayton’s availability remains uncertain as both continue to nurse injuries.

The Lakers will play a back-to-back against the Phoenix Suns on Monday. They could have some injury concerns going into the clash. LeBron James and Marcus Smart were not present in Sunday's game against the New Orleans Pelicans. James was listed as "questionable" because of a left foot injury management.

Latest update on Marcus Smart and LeBron James

Smart missed a second straight game because of a back injury. He was placed as "doubtful" before being ruled out.

James will likely make a comeback in the game against Phoenix after resting for one of the two back-two-back games. Smart will stay day-to-day as he's been dealing with his injury since Friday.

Latest update on Deandre Ayton

Deandre Ayton could be placed on the injury report. He exited Sunday's game against New Orleans in the fourth quarter because of a knee injury. Ayton was already dealing with a right knee contusion last week and bumped the same leg with Pelicans center Derik Queen.

Following the game, coach JJ Redick said that Ayton was motivated, but did not share any update regarding his injury. As of now, the center can be considered day-to-day to face his former team.

Before making an exit, Ayton was looking great, amassing 22 points, 12 rebounds and blocking four shots in 27 minutes on 7 of 9 shots. He was 8 of 8 from the free throw line. Ayton's performance was crucial in the LA Lakers' 133-121 win.

Lakers coach gives massive update on LeBron James' status for back-to-back this season

LeBron James' season debut was hindered after he missed the entire preseason and first 14 games with  sciatica. He has played in four of the five games since then, missing Sunday's clash due to rest. It raised questions about his status to appear in back-to-backs the rest of the year.

Although, JJ Redick has raised positivity around the legendary player being available on consecutive days at some point. As of now, the Lakers will stay cautious with James.
