India are set to take on Pakistan in the second match of the Asia Cup that is kicking off in Dubai on Saturday, August 27, in what will prove to be like a pre-season tournament for the 2022 T20 World Cup in October-November in Australia. And while a majority of the Indian fans are eagerly looking forward to the clash between India and Pakistan, a not-so-quiet subsection of Virat Kohli fans are excited to see the former skipper back in action after missing the last two limited-overs series between West Indies and Zimbabwe.

Before India's all-important match vs Pakistan game, the star batter spoke to the official BCCI channel in an interview and the BCCI shared a small teaser for the same, where Kohli talks about his drop in form. "I am a person who wakes up and is like, let's see what the day has for me. Be a part of everything that I'm doing throughout the day with absolute presence and involvement and happiness and that's where I've always been."

"And people ask me a lot how do you do this on the field and how do you carry on with so much intensity? I just tell them I love playing the game and I love the fact that I have so much to contribute to every ball and I would give every inch of my energy on the field."

"For me, it never felt abnormal. A lot of people on the outside and even within the team asked me how do you keep up with it. And I say just one simple thing, I want to make my team win at any cost, and if that means that I am gasping for breath when I walk off the field so be it. That is the kind of preparation I go through. To be able to play like that."

"But that was not happening naturally, I had to push myself I just didn't know it."

Kohli has not hit a century in international cricket since 2019, and it has almost been more than 1,000 days since his last ton. Moreover, the batter has not hit a T20I century in his career, although the 33-year-old will be eagerly hoping to break this duck in the Asia Cup.
