After returning home on September 3 (Sunday) in the middle of the ongoing 2023 Asia Cup, Team India premier pacer Jasprit Bumrah shared the beautiful news that he and his wife Sanjana Ganesan were blessed with a baby boy. The bowler revealed the news in a heartfelt post on social media.
“Our little family has grown & our hearts are fuller than we could ever imagine! This morning we welcomed our little boy, Angad Jasprit Bumrah into the world. We are over the moon and can’t wait for everything this new chapter of our lives brings with it ❤️ - Jasprit and Sanjana,” read the post.
Earlier, Sports Tak reported that Bumrah had returned to Mumbai due to personal reasons. This was a day before Rohit Sharma's Men in Blue are scheduled to cross swords against minnows Nepal on September 4 (Monday).
The experienced fast bowler will be absent for India's upcoming match against Nepal on Monday but is slated to rejoin the squad before the commencement of the Super Fours stage. The fast bowler from Mumbai Indians is expected to be in the playing XI for India's first Super Fours game set for September 10 (Sunday).
Bumrah is in good health and has experienced no fitness issues.
The right-arm fast bowler was in the playing XI for the rain-affected match against Pakistan on September 2 (Saturday). Due to the weather, he didn't have the opportunity to bowl a single ball. However, Bumrah did contribute with the bat, scoring 16 runs off 14 balls, including three fours, marking his highest ODI score.
Additionally, India's ODI World Cup team must be announced by September 5. As it currently stands, the selection committee will likely include Bumrah in the 15-member World Cup squad even without seeing him bowl a full 10-over spell in an ODI.
Bumrah recently made a triumphant return to international cricket in the T20I series against Ireland, where he was named captain. He bowled exceptionally well in the series, showcasing his successful recovery from a back injury.
The 29-year-old was sidelined for 11 months due to ongoing back issues. He underwent back surgery and subsequently went through an intensive rehabilitation process at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.
