Swashbuckling Australian opening batter David Warner was ruled out from the remainder of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Series against India on February 21 (Tuesday). Warner, who sustained two body blows in the 2nd Test match in Delhi, will return to Australia with a 'hairline fracture of the elbow', as reported by cricket.com.au.

"David Warner has been ruled out of the Qantas test tour of India and will return home," Cricket Australia (CA) said in a statement issued this afternoon.

"Warner was struck on the elbow in the second Test in Delhi and sustained a hairline fracture.

"After further assessment, he will require a period of rehabilitation which will preclude any further involvement in the remainder of the Test series." the statement added.

Warner has not been ruled out from the ODI series and is likely to return to India to take part in the three-match series after the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

The left-handed batter became the second Aussie cricketer to be ruled out from the ongoing series. Star pacer Josh Hazlewood was ruled out of the series on February 20 (Monday) and will “continue his rehabilitation from an Achilles complaint that has sidelined him from the first two Tests” in Australia.

The Baggy Greens skipper Pat Cummins flew back to Australia owing to ‘personal reasons’ on Monday. The Australian captain will spend some time in Sydney before returning to India to participate in the third Test match in Indore, which is scheduled to begin on March 01.
