India continued to dazzle on Day 6 of the ongoing Commonwealth Games (CWG) 2022 as they added five more medals to their kitty. Resuming their Tuesday's Lawn Bowls and Table Tennis gold, Indian contingent made merry on Wednesday too as their total medal tally reached to 18. It all started with Lovepreet Singh's bronze in weightlifting which was well complemented by Gurdeep Singh as he further added another bronze in the same event.
Saurav Ghosal and Tejaswin Shankar clinched historic bronze in Squash and Athletics respectively, while Tulika Maan bagged silver in Judo.
There was a lot of action in Lawn Bowls and Para Table Tennis. Indian men’s hockey team was also very dominant in their fixture against Canada in Pool B. The women’s hockey team won a crucial tie against Canada 3-2 in their quest for a medal while men's hockey team blanked Canada 8-0.
India women's cricket team also progressed to semifinals after crushing Barbados by 100 runs. Meanwhile, three Indian pugilists, including Nikhat Zareen, advanced to the semifinals in their respective events after thrilling victories while Lovlina Borgohain made a last eight exit. With their wins, Zareen (50kg), Nitu Ganghas (48kg) and Mohammed Hussamudin (57kg) assured India of three boxing medals.
