The stage is set for the 2022 T20 World Cup final slugfest which will see former champions Pakistan and England locking horns with each other for the ultimate title at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on November 13 (Sunday). Babar Azam and Co. are on cusp of repeating 1992's glory as they will be eyeing their second T20 World Cup title. Pakistan skipper Babar must be proud of his side who defied all odds and launched a miraculous comeback to storm into the T20 World Cup 2022 final as they were once on the threshold of an early ouster from the tournament.
The Men in Green are vying for their second T20 World Cup title after lifting the glittering trophy in 2009, two years after they fell short and lost the final against India in 2007. Veteran Pakistan batter Shoaib Malik, who was a vital cog in the Men in Green's title-winning campaign, reflected on the country's triumph.
Malik, who scored 24 not out off 22 balls, broke down on live TV as he reflected on Younis Khan's heartfelt gesture after Pakistan won the World Cup.
"When we won the World Cup in 2009, Younis Khan called me and said ‘you hold the trophy’. And that was very special," Malik said during an interaction on A Sports.
Meanwhile, Babar Azam's men are now tasked to repeat the heroics of the 2009 title-winning Pakistan team as they take on England in the crunch final.
