Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) still have a chance to make changes in India’s T20 World Cup squad. As per a BCCI source, changes can be made in the Indian squad till October 15 as Super 12s will begin on October 23. The main focus will be on Hardik Pandya’s fitness as he was not able to bowl a single over for Mumbai Indians (MI) in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 and did not fare well with the bat either.

“We are getting details about Hardik and some other players (Varun Chakravarthy) as well. We have time in hand and will take call accordingly,” the BCCI source told Sports Tak.

The deadline for teams playing in Round 1 is now over but the ones in Super 12s can still make last-minute changes. While Hardik's IPL campaign has come to an end with Mumbai Indians (MI) missing the playoffs berth by a whisker, Varun Chaktravarthy will be featuring in the first eliminator of IPL 2021 between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on October 10. If KKR continue to win, they will be playing in the second qualifier followed by the final on October 15. Chakravarthy’s fitness in these games will help selectors make a call before submitting the final squad to the International Cricket Council (ICC).

India T20 World Cup squad: Virat Kohli (c), Rohit Sharma (vc), KL Rahul, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant (wk), Ishan Kishan (wk), Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Rahul Chahar, Ravichandran Ashwin, Axar Patel, Varun Chakravarthy, Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammed Shami
