After the 27-run victory of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) over Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 final last night, former England captain Michael Vaughan wants CSK skipper MS Dhoni to return to the Indian team for the T20 World Cup.

The fact that CSK won their fourth IPL title in the 12 seasons they played under Dhoni speaks volumes of his impact on the franchise. Dhoni's match-winning 18* in 6 balls against the Delhi Capitals (DC) in the second qualifier is also an indication that the veteran still has a lot left in his tank.

After the CSK’s comprehensive win in the final, Vaughan jokingly tweeted, "India’s Team mentor might be better off playing in the T20 WC (with laughing emojis)."

Earlier, Vaughan had predicted that CSK would win the title for the fourth time, and that is exactly what happened last night. He had guessed Ravindra Jadeja to be named Man of the Match in the IPL 2021 final, but that didn't happen because of  Faf du Plessis' amazing 86-run knock.

“Like all my predictions this year have been spot on .. I think @ChennaiIPL will win the Final today .. Man of the match will be @imjadeja #IPL2021Final,” Vaughan had tweeted before the IPL final.

Dhoni is all set to join the bio-bubble and mentor the Indian team for the T20 World Cup which begins on 17 October. On October 24, the men in blue will face arch-rivals Pakistan in their first encounter of the tournament. Pakistan are yet to defeat India in any World Cup game (T20 and ODI). Also, the 40-year-old has led India to victory five times against Pakistan in the T20 World Cup (2007-2016).

Before the start of their campaign, India are scheduled to play warm-up matches against England and Australia on 18 and 20 October respectively.
