With chances of booking a berth in semi-finals hanging by a thread, the Virat Kohli-led Indian unit will look to notch up their first win of their T20 World Cup 2021 campaign as they take on an unpredictable Afghanistan side on Wednesday (November 3).

Crushing defeats to arch-rivals Pakistan and World Cup nemesis New Zealand have made life difficult for Kohli too. The Indian camp was chasing a perfect swansong for their skipper before two consecutive losses has put even Kohli's limited-overs captaincy in danger.

Legendary Sunil Gavasakar, however, feels that the Indian team has the potential to change things around and defeat the Afghan team by a huge margin. He even predicted India making the semi-final of the T20 showpiece.

"There is no fear of the Afghanistan challenge because the Indian team is a champion side. It is very important to win this match because if you had won the first two matches, you could have taken this match lightly. But I still have faith in India. They will make a comeback and win by a huge margin tomorrow," Gavaskar told Aaj Tak.

"The Indian team also has the ability to change things around. I am optimistic and confident that India can turn it around by going to the semi-finals, irrespective of the mathematical equation. I think India's luck will also catch up with them after a victory over Afghanistan," he further said.

Former cricketer Madan Lal also advised the Indian batters to play fearless cricket against Afghanistan. Besides defeating Scotland, Namibia and Afghanistan by big margins, India would hope for one of these three teams to upset New Zealand. The Net Run Rate (NRR) will eventually come into the equation and the team with a better NRR will advance to the top-four stage.

"As Sunil said, there is a lot of ability in the team. But in my opinion, I would just like to see the batters play without any fear. Batting freely without any pressure will benefit the team a lot," he said.
