Musheer Khan's 131-run knock followed by a dominating display helped India register a massive 214-run win over New Zealand in their first Super Six match at the Under-19 World Cup 2024. India continued their unbeaten run with a fourth win on the trot. Also, this is Uday Saharan-led India’s third win by 200 or more runs in the tournament. 
 

Earlier, New Zealand captain Oscar Jackson won the toss and opted to bowl first. Arshin Kulkarni fell early for a single-digit score to Mason Clarke. Adarsh Singh hit boundaries while Musheer played himself in. Adash reached his half-century from 57 balls. In the 18th over, Adarsh threw his wicket away against Zac Cumming. The opener scored 52 runs from 58 balls including six fours. Musheer reached his half-century from 61 balls in the 25th over.

 

Another ton for Musheer Khan
 

Skipper Saharan hit two fours in his 34-ball 57 before losing his wicket to Oliver Tewatiya. Aravelly Avanish hit a couple of sixes during his short stay at the crease. In the 43rd over, Musheer reached his century from 109 balls. Musheer accelerated after breaching the three figures. He played a helicopter shot as well. Meanwhile, Priyanshu Moliya departed after scoring just 10 runs. In Clarke's next over, Musheer hit two boundaries before getting dismissed. His 131-run knock from 126 balls featured 13 fours and three sixes. India lost one wicket each in the final two overs and managed to post 295/8.

 

No fight from New Zealand
 

The Kiwi run chase faced a setback in the first over itself. Raj Limbani dismissed Tom Jones and Snehith Reddy without conceding a single run. In his third over, Saumy Pandey got his wicket in the form of Lachlam Stackpole. In his next over, left-arm spinner Pandey trapped James Nelson in front of the stumps. Nawan Tiwari was introduced into the attack in the 12th over. He got the wicket of Oliver as New Zealand lost half the side for 39.

After a century, Musheer got into the action with the ball. Skipper Jackson got bowled after scoring 19 runs from 38 balls. Pandey returned and struck again. Cumming managed to score 16 runs from 26 balls. Kulkarni joined the party as well. The pacer dismissed Alex Thompson who scored 12 runs from 27 balls. Pandey in his last over got Ryan Tsourgas stumped for a three-ball duck. He conceded 19 runs, bowled two maidens and picked up four wickets. In the 29th over, Musheer wrapped up the proceedings with the wicket of Ewald Schreuder. New Zealand were bowled out for 81 and lost the match by 214 runs.
 

India will now face Nepal in their last Super Six clash on February 2.
