England batters had a field day in their last group clash against Pakistan in Women’s T20 World Cup 2023. With the help of half-centuries from opener Danielle Wyatt and Nat Sciver-Brunt, England posted a mammoth total of 213/5, the highest ever in women’s T20 World Cup history.
The previous best total belonged to South Africa. In the 2020 edition, South Africa scored 195/3 against Thailand at Canberra. The previous highest total for England was 176/2 which they registered against Thailand at Canberra in previous edition as well. The previous highest in the ongoing World Cup was New Zealand's 189/3 against Bangladesh on February 17.
England’s 213/5 is their second-highest total in T20I cricket. Also, it is the highest total in the format against Pakistan. This was the first time Pakistan conceded more than 200 in a T20I encounter.
Earlier, England skipper Heather Knight won the toss and opted to bat first. England lost two early wickets in the form of Sophia Dunkley (2) and Alice Capsey (6) in the powerplay overs. Wyatt looked in good form and scored 59 runs from 33 deliveries including seven fours and two sixes. After her wicket in the 12th over, skipper Knight followed her to the dugout. Knight became Nida Dar's milestone wicket. Nida became the leading wicket-taker in T20Is surpassing West Indies' Anisa Mohammed.

Sciver continued to hit big and had support from wicketkeeper-batter Amy Jones. Sciver reached her half-century from 29 deliveries. In the slog overs, she went after Pakistan bowlers who made too many mistakes including Fatima Sana's no-ball spree.
In the last five overs, Pakistan conceded 70 runs. Sciver remained unbeaten for 81 off 40 deliveries including 12 fours and one six. Jones missed her chance to score a half-century. She got out off the last delivery of the innings. She scored 47 runs from 31 deliveries. Her 47-run knock was studded with five fours and one six.
