Both of them are standing unbeaten at the end of Day 2.

Rohit Sharma will join Team India soon.

Former Indian cricketer Dodda Ganesh stated that India should keep KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal as their opening duo even after Rohit Sharma rejoins the playing XI from the second Test. After becoming a parent for the second time on November 15, Rohit was on paternity leave and missed the first Test match at Perth Stadium. According to media reports, Rohit will join the Indian team on November 24. Rohit would therefore undoubtedly start right away in the starting lineup. When Rohit was not there, Rahul and Jaiswal opened the batting in Perth.

Dodda Ganesh's remark on India's opening pair

Ganesh, who has represented India in four Tests for India in 1997, said that Rohit should not break this opening pair of Rahul and Jaiswal and bat in the middle order.

“This opening partnership has to stay and Rohit will have to bat in the middle order. Hopefully, common sense prevails,” Ganesh wrote from his official 'X' account formerly known as Twitter

Jaiswal-Rahul's unbeaten stand

India had a major boost on their hand with a 46-run lead. However, they still needed a good start to avoid what happened in the first inning and this time it was ensured by both Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul. Both of them joined 172 runs by stumps and extended India's lead to 218 runs.

The way both of them demonstrated their composure and progressed the scoreboard it did not appear as if it was the same pitch where earlier India and Australia got all out for 150 and 104 respectively in the first innings. Cummins have used 7 bowlers till now and even made Labuschagne and Head in order to get the breakthrough but none of it seemed to work in the favour of the hosts.

India would be eyeing to continue this partnership and reach a massive total and on the other hand, Aussies will eye to get the much-needed breakthrough. They will have to pull some rabbit out of the hat or this pair will take the game too far from them.
