United Arab Emirates (UAE) bowler Hazrat Bilal came into the limelight for wrong reasons during the Abu Dhabi T10 League match between Morrisville Samp Army and New York Strikers. Bilal bowled a huge no ball as he overstepped by a long margin. As soon as the replay was shown on the big screen at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi, Morrisville Samp Army skipper Faf du Plessis couldn't stop smiling. Even opposition players Evin Lewis, Sunil Narine and Reece Topley had a laught in their dugout.
Meanwhile, the UAE bowler was livid with himself for bowling a big no-ball. On the next ball, Donovan Ferreira rubbed salts on his wounds with a maximum over deep extra cover. Earlier, in the over, he got the wicket of Zeeshan Abid.
The video has gone viral on social media. Even former Australian opener David Warner reacted to it as he wrote, "was this a free hit??".
Bilal bowled just one over, conceded nine runs and took a wicket. Kieron Pollard's cameo could not revive New York Strikers' run chase as they managed to post 99/7. They lost the match by 36 runs. Amir Hamza bagged three wickets for 22 runs in his quota of two overs. Karim Janat bagged two wickets as well.
Easy win for Samp Army
Earlier, New York Strikers skipper Pollard won the toss and opted to bowl first. Du Plessis took on left-arm spinner Akeal Hosein in the third over hitting two sixes and a four. The only wicket that fell in the innings was Sharjeel Khan. The opener scored 14 runs from 12 balls. He was dismissed by Khuzaima Tanveer. Du Plessis reached her fifty from 22 balls.
Andries Gous went berserk in the slog overs. In the penultimate over, Gous smashed Narine for four sixes in an over. Morrisville Samp Army managed to post 135/1. The captain carried his bat. He scored 75 runs from 32 balls featuring five fours and six sixes. On the other end, the wicketkeeper-batter Gous scored 41 runs from just 16 balls. His knock was laced with three fours and four sixes.
This was Morrisville Samp Army's second win of the tournament. They are second on the points table. Team Abu Dhabi are on top with a better net run rate (NRR).
