England Cricket Board (ECB) has announced the playing XI for the rescheduled fifth Test at Edgbaston, Birmingham starting on July 1. England team management have trusted in their veteran fast bowlers James Anderson, Stuart Broad in the must-win clash to avoid historic Test series defeat.


England have made one change to their playing XI that played against New Zealand in their third and final Test of the series. Jamie Overton, who made his debut at Leeds against the Kiwis. Jamie scored a match-saving 97 during his record-breaking partnership with Jonny Bairstow and picked one wicket each in both innings.


Sam Billings has been included in the side as their designated wicketkeeper-batter Ben Foakes contracted Covid-19 before the third Test and is yet to regain match fitness. 


England have gone with four specialist bowlers including the new bowling sensation Matthew Potts. 


On the other hand, India are yet to announce their side for the Edgbaston Test. Head coach Rahul Dravid said in the pre-match press conference that skipper Rohit Sharma is not yet ruled out and can join the squad if he test negative. Also, Dravid did not name India’s back-up captain for the clash. 


India are currently leading the Test series 2-1.
