Shubman Gill needs to score a century in Manchester Test against England to equal Rohit Sharma on this elite list

India captain Shubman Gill has been in terrific form so far in the Test series against England and has already scored 3 centuries. The batter is currently the highest-scorer of the series against the Three Lions and it remains to be seen how many more runs will he manage to get under his belt in the remaining two matches.

The batter has been among India's top performers in the history of the World Test Championship (WTC) and currently has 8 centuries under his name along with 2500 runs, making him one of the top-scorers for the Men in Blue in the ICC tournament as well. 

The 25-year-old needs one more century to equal former India captain Rohit Sharma in the list of most centuries scored in WTC history. Notably, Rohit is also the Indian player with the highest tons scored in the tournament, so a hundred in the upcoming Test against England at Old Trafford will also make Gill the Indian with the joint-most centuries in WTC.

Meanwhile, Gill has made a fine start to the new WTC cycle with the bat. The newly-appointed India captain has given a fitting answer to all his doubters with his fantastic performances with the bat so far in the series against England and will be looking to continue this form in the remaining two Tests.

Despite coming off a fantastic batting display in the second Test against England at Edgbaston, Gill wasn't able to contribute much in the third Test at Lord's. He recorded scores of 16 and 6 in the first and second innings respectively of the match as the England bowlers came out on top against the in-form batter.
