Gujarat Titans (GT) all-rounder R Sai Kishore dazzled in ongoing Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) with a record-equalling T20 bowling effort for Chepauk Super Gillies. Kishore bowled the joint-most economical four-fer in the history of T20 cricket.

Defending a tricky target of 134, Kishore was given the ball in the third over in which he conceded just two runs. Kishore was given another chance in the powerplay overs to break the opening partnership and he answered his skipper Kaushik Gandhi's call with the wicket of S Aravind. The new batter R Rajkumar got out without troubling the scorers for a two-ball duck. Rajkumar got bowled by the southpaw. Kishore bowled a double-wicket maiden to put Tamizhans under pressure.

Kishore was brought back into the attack in the 15th over and ended opposition's hopes of making a comeback. P Francis Rokins' gritty knock was ended by Kishore. He got another wicket of Aswin Crist in the 15th over to reduce Tamizhans for 66/8. Kishore troubled the tailender M Mohammed but he decided to play him out.

He finished his bowling figures with three maidens and four wickets for just two runs with an economy rate of 0.50. He equalled Sri Lanka's Chanaka Welegedara's seven-year-old record, the left-arm pacer who picked a four-wicket haul and conceded just two runs. However, he bowled two maidens compared to Kishore's three maidens.

The left-arm spinner's bowling figures helped Chepauk win the match by a big margin of 60 runs. Earlier, he scored 19 runs from 26 deliveries batting at no.4.

“Pleased with the result. Wanted to play for the team and the situation. I had to take the responsibility, just wanted to compete, play well and play hard,” the 25-year-old said.

Kishore was picked for Rs 3 crore by Titans after a bidding war with multiple Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 franchises. He played five games in IPL 2022 and picked up six wickets at an average of 20.17 and an economy rate of 7.56.

So far, he has taken seven wickets from four games at an average of 12.14.
