New Zealand pacer Kyle Jamieson is notable absentee from the list of players going under the hammer in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 mega auction. A total of 590 players are set to go under the hammer. The 6 ft 8 inch pacer was bought for a whopping INR 15 crore in last year’s mini-auction .

The tall pacer managed to do a decent job, scalping nine wickets in as many games with his economy rate being close to 10. He also scored some vital runs for the then Virat Kohli-led side. However, his heroics won’t be seen in IPL 2021. Although the reason behind his absence in the list is unknown, it seems Jamieson didn’t even put his name in the auction pool.

Bubble fatigue possible reason behind Kyle Jamieson’s decision?

It’s nearly impossible that the Kiwi wasn’t shortlisted. Jamieson had earlier hinted that he might skip IPL 2022 to avoid bio-bubble fatigue. He even pulled out from the T20I series against India last year due to the same reason.

The right-arm fast bowler was last seen during the home Test series against Bangladesh last month when resulted in a 1-1 draw. As Jamieson has become a regular across formats, his schedule would be packed in coming days. All these factors might have prompted the Kiwi player’s call.

24 Kiwi players in total are registered for IPL Auction

Trent Boult and Lockie Ferguson are set go under the hammer for a base price of 2Cr.

James Neesham, Glenn Phillips, Adam Milne, Tim Southee and Colin Munro for 1.5Cr.

Meanwhile, IPL 2022 will be a grand affair with two new teams, Lucknow and Ahmedabad  coming into the picture. This will be the first time since 2011, IPL will see 10 teams in action. Notably, the eight existing sides were allowed to retain a maximum of just four players ahead of bidding event. Among the non-retained players, the two new sides made three picks each.
