Two Indian left-arm pacers are in doubt for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season. Chennai Super Kings' (CSK) Mukesh Choudhary and Lucknow Super Giants' (LSG) Mohsin Khan are yet to regain full fitness as they are still nursing their injuries.
Choudhary and Mohsin impressed many as they outfoxed several batters. Both of them were picked for their base price of Rs 20 lakh each.
CSK's Kasi Viswanathan is hopeful of Choudhary recovering in time as he told Cricbuzz, "We are waiting on Mukesh but we do not have much hope. He was one of our bowling mainstays last year. It will be unfortunate if he misses out.”
Choudhary who has been out of action since December is currently undergoing rehab for his back injury at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), Bengaluru.
Mohsin has not played a single competitive game since IPL 2022. After his stupendous performance in IPL 2022, there were calls to consider him for India’s T20I squad as well.
“Obviously Mohsin is getting back there where he wanted to be but not sure where he's going to start straight away because obviously, he hasn't played any cricket in last one year he had a major surgery as well. So hopefully he can recover quickly because the left armor with that height and with that pace is always a luxury to have and we all have seen that what impact he can have once he's 100% fit.,” LSG mentor Gautam Gambhir had told Sports Tak earlier this month.
Choudhary and Mohsin’s numbers
Choudhary was expensive as he conceded at 9.32 runs per over but he took 16 wickets from 13 appearances. On the other hand, Mohsin impressed with express pace. The 24-year-old had an impressive economy rate of 5.97 runs per over. The Sambhal-born pacer picked up 14 wickets from just nine games at an average of 14.07.
CSK will start their campaign in IPL 2023 opener against defending champions Gujarat Titans. KL Rahul-led LSG will face David Warner-led Delhi Capitals (DC) in their first match of the season.
