Former South African fast bowler Dale Steyn has slammed Cricket South Africa (CSA) for their ludicrous behaviour towards former captain Faf du Plessis and leg-spinner Imran Tahir.

The official handle of CSA on Instagram congratulated Lungi Ngidi for winning the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 title with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and failed to mention final's player of the match Du Plessis and their veteran spinner Tahir.

‘Congratulations @lungingidi on claiming the 2021 IPL title with Chennai Super Kings,”  CSA's post read.

Du Plessis, the second-highest run-scorer of the IPL 2021 with 633 runs took on the CSA with his comment, "Really???”. Soon after his former teammate Steyn joined him in bashing the social media handle of CSA as he wrote, "Who’s running this account? Last I checked Faf isn’t even retired, Imran isn’t retired, both these guys have given years of service to CSA and they were not worth a mention? Disgusting."

Steyn also expressed his disappointment and shock on South Africa’s decision to leave out in-form Du Plessis from the T20 World Cup squad despite a great IPL season.

“You got to feel a bit for Faf. I feel a little bit for Faf right now, because he’s in the country where a T20 World Cup is about to happen. And he’s just scored almost 90 in an IPL final. And he’s going to be on the next plane back to Cape Town in two days’ time. I don’t know. I can’t even talk about it. It blows my mind,” the legendary fast bowler told ESPNcricinfo.

Du Plessis retired from Test cricket earlier this year to focus on limited-overs cricket and since then the relationship between him and the board has gone sour of late after his exclusion from the T20 World Cup squad.
