Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) took a dig at Virat Kohli after Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) suffered a six-wicket defeat at the hands of Gujarat Titans (GT) to say goodbye to IPL 2023. RCB's defeat scripted their elimination from IPL 2023 and Mumbai Indians' (MI) entry to playoff berth. Evern Virat Kohli's record-seventh IPL century couldn't save RCB from going down to defending champions as his blistering ton was overshadowed by Shubman Gill's towering cent. Gill's century ensured GT won the match with five balls to spare.
RCB needed to win the match anyhow to seal a spot in the playoff berth but fate hate to intervene and yet again Faf Du Plessis' men returned empty handed which only extended their title drought to sixteen years now.
LSG tease RCB with a cryptic tweet
LSG's tweet on Kohli only added insult to injury for RCB. Earlier in the tournament a controversy erupted during the RCB versus LSG match which saw verbal altercations between Kohli and Naveen Ul Haq and then Kohli and Gautam Gambhir. RCB ended up winning the match which saw Kohli unleashing a wild celebration in the dressing room following the incident where he had said, “If you can give it, you gotta take it. Otherwise don’t give it.”
Now that RCB have been knocked out of the tournament, LSG reminded everyone of Kohli's comment and tweeted,“Give it? Take it? Let’s leave it” before adding “Well fought, @RCBTweets. See you next season.”
LSG seal their playoff berth with a one-run win against KKR while RCB slipped to sixth spot in the points table after getting knocked out of IPL 2023 by GT.
Gill, who struck 104 off 52, was the main aggressor for GT and after Wriddhiman Saha lost his wicket early, he took the game by the scruff of its neck. He was the best batter for his team and combined with Vijay Shankar for a partnership of 123 runs in just 71 balls. Shankar smashes 53 runs off just 35 balls after Gill completed his 50 in just 29 balls. Gill continued to wreak havoc after Shankar's dismissal and dampened Kohli's blistering 101 off 61 with swashbuckling 104 off 52 to seal the game for GT.
