The defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) ended their losing rut with a comprehensive 23 runs victory over Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at Dr DY Patil Sports Academy, Mumbai on Tuesday (April 12). Four-time title holders CSK got their first points in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 season, thanks to a storm of sixes by Robin Uthappa and Shivam Dube followed by a four-wicket haul from Maheesh Theekshana.

Rajasthan Royals (RR) opener Jos Buttler continues to lead the run-scorers list. He extended his lead at the top to 218 runs in four matches with a hundred and fifty apiece. The England wicketkeeper had a rare failure against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), scoring 13 off 11 balls. Quinton de Kock of the Supergiants moved back up to 2nd with 188 runs in five matches after scoring 39 off 32 balls with two fours and a six against RR. Titans opener Shubman Gill is in 3rd place with 180 runs.
Purple Cap
Buttler’s RR teammate Yuzvendra Chahal is now the new holder of the Purple Cap. The Royals leg-spinner picked up 4/41 against LSG to move into the top spot with 11 wickets in four matches at an average of just 9.45. Kolkata Knight Riders' (KKR) Umesh Yadav slipped down one spot after claiming just one wicket against DC. Umesh now has 10 wickets in five matches. Delhi Capitals' (DC) chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav is currently in third place with 10 wickets in four matches following his 4/35 against KKR.

Rajasthan Royals' Jos Buttler continued to lead the most sixes tally with 15 big ones while his teammate Shimron Hetmyer with 14 sixes grabbed the second spot followed by Punjab Kings' Shivam Dube, who has hit 13 sixes so far in the tournament.
