Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will lock horns with Rajasthan Royals (RR) in a crunch Indian Premier League (IPL) game at the iconic Eden Gardens stadium in Kolkata on Thursday (May 11).
Whichever team wins the match will approach one step closer to securing playoff berth as both the teams are locked at 10 points with RR slotted on fifth place in IPL points table and KKR sixth.
KKR will look to strike a hat-trick of victories in the match against Sanju Samson's brigade. Once again Nitish Rana will expect his gun batter and the find of IPL 2023 Rinku Singh to fire with the willow. Rinku, who shot to fame after cracking five sixes in Yash Dayal's over to pull off a near impossible win for KKR against Gujarat Titans, has been consistently delivering for the two-time champions and have won many matches for them in the ongoing season.
Rinku's recent exploits came in KKR's last match which was against Punjab Kings when the 25-year-old hit the winning runs off the last ball from Arshdeep Singh's over. Looking at Rinku's performance in IPL 2023 so far, he has amassed 337 runs at an impressive average of 56.17 batting at no.5.
Right ahead of the important clash against, Harbhajan said that Rinku is an inspirational player and his hardwork is the reason behind the glory he is receiving in the IPL.
"That India cap is not far away from Rinku's head. He's such an inspirational player. He's run all the hard yards and worked very hard to get to where he is today. Full credit to him for having that belief in himself. His journey is a life lesson and all young kids should learn from him," said Harbhajan.
Former India's star player Mohammed Kaif too was effusive while lauding Rinku.
"Rinku Singh has that maturity. His footwork is very good and he looks to rotate strikes as well. Rinku knows how to convert his form into good knocks and also knows when to shift gears. He is capable of hitting big shots as well," Kaif said.
