The 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is alive and kicking. A total of 36 matches have been played in IPL 2023 and the franchises involved have provided immense entertainment to their loyal supporters. After 27 days of action in the cash-rich tournament, all teams are gearing up for the business end of the competition. Two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) returned to winning ways and ended their four-match winning streak with a win over Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

When it comes to the race for Orange Cap, RCB's star batters Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli occupy the top two spots while Venkatesh Iyer stormed into the top five on Wednesday.

1. Faf du Plessis: The stylish right-handed batter has aggregated 422 runs in eight matches at a strike rate of 167.46 and an average of 60.29.

2. Virat Kohli: The stand-in Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper and maverick batter, Virat Kohli has scored 333 runs in eight matches at a strike rate of 142.31 and an average of 47.57.

3. Devon Conway: Chennai Super Kings' opening batter has scored 314 runs in seven matches at a strike rate of 143.38 and an average of 52.33.

4. David Warner: The Delhi Capitals' captain has registered 306 runs in seven matches so far at a strike rate of 119.53 and an average of 43.71.  

5. Venkatesh Iyer: Kolkata Knight Riders' left-handed batter has scored 285 runs in eight matches at a strike rate of 154.05 and an average of 35.62.

6. Shubman Gill: The stylish opening batter has scored 284 runs in seven matches at a strike rate of 142.71 and an average of 40.57.

7. Ruturaj Gaikwad: Chennai Super Kings' opening batter has scored 270 runs in seven matches at a strike rate of 147.54 and an average of 45.

8. KL Rahul: Lucknow Super Giants' skipper has scored 262 runs in seven matches at a strike rate of 113.91 and an average of 37.43.
