The 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is alive and kicking. A total of 36 matches have been played in IPL 2023 and the franchises involved have provided immense entertainment to their loyal supporters. After 27 days of action in the cash-rich tournament, all teams are gearing up for the business end of the competition. Two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) returned to winning ways and ended their four-match winning streak with a win over Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

When it comes to the Purple Cap, RCB pacer Mohammed Siraj and Gujarat Titans' (GT) leg-spinner Rashid Khan are tied in the wickets column to lead every other bowler in the competition.m

Let's take a look at the list of leading wicket-takers in IPL 2023 so far:

1. Mohammed Siraj: The right-arm fast bowler has bagged 14 wickets in eight matches in the tournament this season. Siraj averages 16.64 with the ball.

2. Rashid Khan: The Gujarat Titans leg-spinner has accounted for 14 wickets in seven matches and is second on the highest wicket-takers list.

3. Varun Chakaravarthy: KKR's mystery spinner has 13 wickets in eight matches. He is currently averaging 18.38 with the ball.

4. Arshdeep Singh: The left-arm medium pacer has bagged 13 wickets in seven matches in the competition so far. Arshdeep averages 15.69 with the ball.

5. Yuzvendra Chahal: Rajasthan Royals' leg-spinner has bagged 12 wickets in six matches. Chahal has accounted for one four-wicket haul in the competition this year.

6. Tushar Deshpande: CSK's right-arm pacer has 12 wickets in seven matches. The young pacer has an average of 23.17 with the ball.

7. Piyush Chawla: Mumbai Indians' leg-spinner has bagged 11 wickets in seven matches with an average of 17.45 with the ball.

8. Mark Wood: Lucknow Super Giants' overseas pacer has started the tournament in sublime form. Wood has 11 wickets in four matches. The right-arm pacer has accounted for one five-wicket haul as well.

9. Ravindra Jadeja: Chennai Super Kings' left-arm spinner has accounted for 10 wickets in seven matches. He averages 17.60 with the ball.
