With just few days to cash-rich league, a Pakistan journalist tweeted about PSL and IPL and drew parallel between them. The journalist stated that PSL grew quickly in an era where other countries had also been hosting their own T20 leagues respectively. Subsequently, this caught the attention of CSK's Robin Uthappa, who gave a befitting reply to the journalist's tweet and wrote 'IPL created the market!'.

The stage is set for the much anticipated 15th season of Indian Premier League (IPL) which is slated to kick off from March 26. The Four-time champions Chennai Super Kings and two-time winner Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will face each other in the IPL 2022 opener. The craze and popularity of IPL has only gone up since its inception as compared to other cricket leagues which are played across the globe.

After the Pakistan Super League (PSL) was conducted between January 27-February 27, with Lahore Qalandars lifting a maiden league title, IPL is the second major T20 league this year.

With just few days to cash-rich league, a Pakistan journalist tweeted about PSL and IPL and drew parallel between them. The journalist stated that PSL grew quickly in an era where other countries had also been hosting their own T20 leagues respectively.

‘No comparison between PSL and IPL! PSL started in 2016 while IPL inaugurated in 2008. However one has to admit PSL gained worldwide popularity more quicker in an era when other boards had introduced their leagues too whereas there was no competitor in the market when IPL was born’, the journalist wrote on twitter.

Subsequently, this caught the attention of CSK's Robin Uthappa, who gave a befitting reply to the journalist's tweet and wrote 'IPL created the market!'.

In the IPL mega auction 2022, CSK management reposed their faith in Uthappa again as they roped him back for Rs 2 crore, given Uthappa had played an instrumental role for the yellow army during the second half of the 2021 edition of the tournament, as Dhoni's side ended up lifting its fourth title.

Robin Uthappa completed his switch from Rajasthan Royals to Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2020. He just got four opportunities in IPL 2021, but he played some really impressive knocks at the top. Chennai Super Kings have brought in Robin Uthappa for IPL 2022 as well.

Uthappa won the IPL purple cap in 2014, where he scored 660 runs at 44.00 for KKR. Uthappa has won two IPL titles in his career (2014 with KKR and 2020 with CSK).
