Four-time IPL champions Chennai Super Kings' Dwayne Bravo has made a mark in the International cricket with his exceptional all-round prowess. The 38-year old veteran revealed the reason that spurred him to become the best version of himself. He shared an incident from a match where he admitted that he bowled the best ball of his life.
Bravo walked down the memory lane to recall India's tour tour of West Indies where five ODIs and four Tests were played amongst them back in 2006. Indian team spearheaded by the great Rahul Dravid then suffered a humiliating 1-4 loss in the one-dayers, however, the made a comeback to claim the Test series 1-0.
India started off with a win in the first ODI. Lather what happened in the second match is still etched in everyone's memory as it was resulted in a heartbreaking one-run defeat for Indian.
To date, Bravo regards that dismissal of Yuvraj as his life-changing moment and termed it as his favorite delivery of his storied career.
“It made the world look up and notice that I have one of the best change-up balls in business and it made my T20 career," Bravo told Indian Express.
Prior to the delivery, Yuvraj had hit Bravo for two successive fours – bringing down the equation from 10 runs needed in five balls to 2 needed in 3. On the fourth ball of the final over, Bravo bowled a slower one and Yuvraj failed to adjust with the variation in pace as he attempted to flick the delivery towards square. The ball hit the leg stump and the Windies secured a one-run win. India failed to win another match for the remainder of the series.
“I still hadn’t really thought about what ball to bowl. I am still not clear when I go to the top of my run-up. At some point, before I get to the umpire, I decide I am going to bowl that dipper. Too many, man, to choose one ball as a favorite. That Yuvraj ball did change my life,” he added.
Bravo is currently playing for four-time IPL champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in IPL 2022 and is just one wicket away to become the leading wicket-taker of the cash-rich league. Bravo is leveled with former Sri Lanka pacer Lasith Malinga in the all-time highest wicket-takers list with 170 scalps.
