Punjab Kings (PBKS) opener Shikhar Dhawan has become the second batter in the history of Indian Premier League (IPL) to score 6,000 runs. Dhawan took 199 innings to breach the 6,000 mark on April 25 at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. Only former Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) skipper Virat Kohli has more runs than Dhawan in IPL history.

The 36-year-old reached the milestone in the second over of Kings' clash against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. Before the game, he needed just two runs to achieve the rare feat.

More milestones

Dhawan is also 11th on the list of highest run-scores in T20 cricket which includes domestic T20 leagues, franchise cricket and T20Is. He also breached the 9,000-run mark in T20 cricket. Before the game, he was 11 runs away from the milestone. He is third-highest run-scorer in the format for India after Kohli and Rohit Sharma.

He is now the first batter to score 1,000 or more runs against CSK. The second batter on the list is Kohli who has 949 runs against the three-time champions.

The southpaw has an average nearly 35 in the IPL. He has been a part of the cash-rich league since the inaugural season. He has represented five franchises so far -- Deccan Chargers, Delhi Capitals (Delhi Daredevils earlier), Mumbai Indians (MI), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and current franchise PBKS.

He also holds the record for most number of fours in the league (675+).

Third on the list is MI skipper Rohit Sharma. The Mumbai opener has 5,764 runs from 221 matches at an average of 30.66 including one century and 40 half-centuries. David Warner has 5,668 runs from 153 matches at an average of 41.99 including four centuries and 53 half-centuries.

Fifth on the list is former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batter Suresh Raina who was not picked in the mega auctions. Raina has 5,528 runs from 205 games at an average of 32.51 including one century and 39 half-centuries.
