Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni won his fourth Indian Premier League (IPL) trophy. Dhoni almost confirmed in the post-match presentation that he is not done donning the yellow jersey and is not leaving anything behind. The captain of the most consistent team to reach the playoffs lauded the team’s efforts throughout the tournament and revealed how he communicates with his players.

“Yes we are most consistent team looking at the stats but we have also lost finals. Not letting the opposition in is something we consciously wanted to improve. I hope CSK in the coming years will be known for that. We don't really talk a lot. It's more one on one. People are more open that way. The moment you talk in a team room there is a bit of pressure. You can't deliver without a good team,” The 40-year-old told Harsha Bhogle in the post-match presentation.

Dhoni credited Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for their brilliant turnaround in the second phase of IPL 2021 to qualify for the playoffs and then play the final.

“Before I start talking about CSK, it's important I talk about KKR. For the position they were in after the first phase, to perform this well, it's very difficult. If any team deserved to win the IPL this year, it is KKR for the way they have played. I think the break helped them,” Dhoni lauded Eoin Morgan’s side.

In the end, Dhoni thanked the sea of fans in yellow present at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. He added that it felt like Chepauk playing in the final in Dubai.

Before joining his team to lift the trophy, Dhoni revealed his plans for CSK next year. "It depends on BCCI with two new teams coming in," he said.

"Well it's not about me playing for CSK, it's about what is best for CSK. The core group has carried the team for 10 years. Now we need to see what is best,” he concluded.
