Rohit Sharma has been in stupendous form since he took over the T20I captaincy reigns from Virat Kohli. Rohit scored his second half-century in the three T20I series to break Kohli’s record of most fifty-plus scores in the format. Rohit has 30 fifty-plus scores in T20I format including four centuries whereas Kohli has 29 half-centuries to his name.

With three sixes in his 56-run knock, Rohit became the second batter to score 150 sixes in T20I cricket. New Zealand opener Martin Guptill is on the top of the list with 165 sixes in T20Is. The 35-year-old also became the second Indian to hit 50 or more sixes as captain in T20Is. Only Kohli has hit more sixes in T20Is for an Indian captain.

Rohit scored at a strike rate of 180.16. His quickfire half-century helped India get off to a flier after opting to bat first for the first time in the series. Opening with Ishan Kishan, India were 69 for no loss in the powerplay overs.

While Kishan got out just after the powerplay overs, Rohit held on to one end till the 12th over. This was also Rohit’s fourth half-century in six games. He missed out on a half-century in the first game, getting out for 48 in the Jaipur T20I.

After a dismal show against Pakistan and New Zealand in T20 World Cup, Rohit has scored four half-century in six games, the veteran has scored 319 runs from six games at an average of 53.17.
