Meanwhile, Virat Kohli has broken into top 5 of the ODI batting rankings

India's batting maestro Rohit Sharma showed no movement in the latest ICC ODI batters' rankings and continued his stay at the top as Numero Uno. Former India captain Rohit was rewarded for his exceptional run the recently-concluded ODI series against Australia. His success has contributed significantly to India's continued dominance in the batting charts.

Rohit Sharma enjoys stay at the top of ICC ODI Rankings

Rohit's performance in the series was nothing short of splendid. He didn't get off to the best of the start in the series, scoring just 8 runs in the opener. However, he staged a remarkable comeback in the second ODI at Adelaide, compiling a fluent 73 runs. And what he did in the last ODI is still etched in everyone's memory as Rohit delivered a fine, unbeaten knock of 121, leading his team from the front to secure a strong finish.

Virat Kohli breaks into top 5

Currently, Rohit tops the ICC ODI batting charts with 781 rating points. He is closely followed by Afghanistan’s Ibrahim Zadran and New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell. India’s newly appointed ODI captain, Shubman Gill, holds the fourth position with 745 points, while veteran Virat Kohli rounds off the top five with 725 points. This strong presence of three key Indian batsmen in the top five ensures that India maintains its significant dominance in the ICC ODI batting rankings.

Rohit Sharma to feature in domestic cricket

Following his ascent to the top of the ICC ODI rankings, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma is reportedly keen to maintain his match fitness and batting rhythm by participating in upcoming domestic tournaments. Reports from The Indian Express suggest that Rohit intends to play for Mumbai in both the Vijay Hazare Trophy and potentially the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. His commitment to domestic cricket underscores his determination to stay sharp and well-prepared for India's busy international calendar ahead.

In contrast to Rohit's consistency, Kohli endured a contrasting start to the series against Australia. The former captain suffered a rare slump, registering back-to-back ducks in the first two ODIs—a first in his illustrious career—which briefly led to questions about his form. However, Kohli responded with a reminder of his enduring class in the third and final ODI. He produced a composed and unbeaten knock of 74, skillfully guiding India to a morale-boosting victory, despite the team ultimately losing the series overall.

Rohit and Virat's next assignment will be the three-match ODI series against South Africa which is set to start from November 30.
