The Indian players are handling the loss while fans speculate about what could have happened differently. Rahul shared his sadness on social media, talking about how much the defeat still hurts.
"Still hurts'' Rahul said in a post on 'X' while sharing three photos of him and the Indian men's cricket team from the final clash.
Despite being the top run-scorer for India in the World Cup 2023 final, Rahul faced criticism for his slow innings in Ahmedabad. Rahul scored 66 runs from 107 balls, facing 49 dot balls, and taking 52 singles and five doubles.
Team India played remarkable cricket throughout the World Cup, securing victories in 10 consecutive games before facing defeat in the title clash in front of a crowd of over a lakh home fans at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
Rahul's teammate, Kuldeep Yadav, also expressed that the pain of India's loss in the World Cup final against Australia will endure, motivating him to strive even harder for the "next opportunity."
"Our journey from Chennai to Ahmedabad ended in a disappointing result, but we take pride in our achievements over the six weeks. Despite the pain, we're determined to work harder for the next opportunity," Kuldeep said in a post on 'X'.
"While the pain of defeat lingers, we must move forward; life continues, and healing takes time. The Cup was beautiful, but it seems God had other plans. Navigating this moment, it's time to switch off and recharge. Dealing with this setback is tough, but we hold onto faith, believing in the journey ahead," he said.
"Thanks to our dedicated support staff, we were fully prepared for every opponent, and their commitment reassured us as players. The love from fans at each of the 9 venues touched our hearts and motivated us to exceed our limits. We're grateful to passionate fans worldwide and in every Indian household for their support”, the chinaman added.
