In a bizarre incident that has created a stir in the Indian cricket circuit, a few players of Saurashtra's Under-23 team were caught carrying several alcohol bottles in the kit bags. The Saurashtra Under-23 team had traveled to Chandigarh to compete in the CK Nayudu Tournament. The incident came to light when the team was leaving for Rajkot from Chandigarh and the cargo officials flagged the presence of several alcohol bottles in some players' bags during a routine inspection at the airport.

In an exclusive chat with the Sports Tak, Saurashtra Cricket Association (SCA) secretary Himanshu Shah confirmed the bizarre incident and affirmed that strict action will be taken against those found guilty of breaching the protocol.

"Some players of the U-23 team who were traveling to Rajkot from Chandigarh after playing CK Nayudu tournament match, were found carrying alcohol," SCA secretary Himanshu Shah told Sports Tak.

"Some of the players were found carrying alcohol in their Cargo (kits) has come to our notice and we are examining the whole incident. Once we have the whole information with us then only I can say what actions will be taken. Disciplinary action will be taken against the players if they are found breaching the protocol. We have formed a committee to look into it and action will be taken accordingly," he added.

The media spokesperson of the SCA also reiterated the secretary's statement and said that an in-depth examination of the entire incident will take place

"There has been an alleged incident at Chandigarh that is brought to the notice of Saurashtra Cricket Association. The alleged incident is unfortunate and intolerable. Ethics/Disciplinary Committee & Apex Council of Saurashtra Cricket Association to conduct an in-depth examination of the incident and shall take proper disciplinary action," media spokesperson of the SCA told Sports Tak.
