India's World Cup-winning pacer S Sreesanth has announced retirement from all forms of cricket. Sreesanth took to Twitter on March 9 to announce his decision.
“It has been an honor to represent my family, my teammates, and the people of India. Nd everyone who loves the game. With much sadness but without regret, I say this with a heavy heart: I am retiring from the Indian domestic (first class and all formats) cricket,” Sreesanth wrote in a tweet.
However, the Kerala pacer to play in franchise-based T20 leagues across the world after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) gives him the nod. Recently, India's Under-19 World Cup-winning captain Unmukt Chand made his debut in Australia's Big Bash League (BBL) after retiring from all forms of cricket.

“With much sadness but without regret, I say this with a heavy heart: I am retiring from the Indian domestic (first class and all formats) cricket, for the next generation of cricketers..I have chosen to end my first class cricket career. This decision is mine alone, and although I know this will not bring me happiness, it is the right and honorable action to take at this time in my life. I ve cherished every moment,” the 39-year-old further wrote.
Sreesanth also did two live videos on Twitter while announcing his decision to quit domestic cricket.
Sreesanth recently represented Kerala against Megahalaya in the Ranji Trophy 2022 game. He took two wickets in the first innings and scored 19 runs with the bat. A video of his emotional celebration also went viral on Twitter (his 1st First-Class wicket after nine years).
The speedster made his international debut in October 2005 in an ODI against Sri Lanka in Nagpur. He has represented India in 27 Tests, 53 ODIs and 10 T20Is with 87, 75 and seven wickets respectively. He was a part of India's T20 World Cup 2007 squad and World Cup 2011 squad. He took the memorable catch of Misbah-ul-Haq at short fine leg in the final of inaugural season of T20 World Cup.
