The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is on a look out for Rahul Dravid’s replacement for National Cricket Academy’s head post after reportedly convincing him to accept the board’s offer for the head coach’s job.

Sports Tak has learnt that BCCI had approached former Indian batter VVS Laxman for the NCA head post, but the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) mentor has refused the offer and has shown no interest to take up the job. The source told Sports Tak that the board is looking to fill up the position with someone who has contributed well for Indian cricket and is capable of taking care of the NCA post and responsibilities.

Dravid had re-applied for the NCA head post after the completion of his two-year contract before being approached by the BCCI for the head coach job. He was appointed the NCA head in July 2019 for the first time.

The BCCI on Sunday had issued an advertisement for the post of head coach and three members of support staff as per Lodha Committee-mandated constitution. The last date for applying for the head coach post is October 26 whereas for other posts it is November 3.

The head coach will be responsible for reviewing, maintaining, and enforcing the disciplinary codes within the Indian men's team. He will also work with the head of National Cricket Academy to formulate a developmental plan for the up skilling of players who are not a part of the national team as and when possible.
