Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif questioned the wicketkeeping role in the squad that will feature in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 squad which is scheduled to start from June 2 in the USA and West Indies. He wants Mohammad Rizwan to replace Azam Khan as the wicketkeeper in the marquee event.
Latif also reckoned that their is a problem with Pakistan's team combination and the players need to be prepared to play at the floating roles as per the match situation.
"They are not getting their combination right, which is their biggest problem. Not only shuffle, but players need to be prepared to play at floating roles now in T20 cricket as per the match situation," Latif said.
Latif on Pakistan cricket team's wicketkeeping roles
"The team has two wicketkeepers, Usman Khan and Rizwan. I suggest that wicketkeeping should be done by a senior player," he said.
"Rizwan was running the game from behind for the last four years [but] now you have removed that guard," he added.
Pakistan World Cup-bound team was recently involved in a T20I series against England where the team failed to perform and lost by 2-0 after two matches washed out due to rain.
