Bayern Munich kicked-off their UEFA Champions League 2025-26 campaign with a dominating 3-1 win over Chelsea at the Allianz Arena, Munich, Germany, on Wednesday, September 17. The German side displayed their dominance in Matchday 1, entertaining home fans with a convincing performance.

Trevoah Chalobah's own goal in the 20th minute gave Bayern a lead, before Harry Kane doubled it from the penalty spot just seven minutes later. Chelsea responded through Cole Palmer's amazing goal in the 29th minute, but hopes of a comeback win were dashed as Kane scored again in the 63rd minute to restore Bayern's two-goal lead.

Bayern's control of the contest

Bayern Munich attempted 16 shots compared as compared to Chelsea's 9, managed to acquire 56% possession, and completed 557 passes at a remarkable 90% accuracy. Despite Chelsea's resilience, Bayern's attacking precision, discipline, and relentless pressure throughout saw them collect all possible three points with sheer dominance.

Chelsea managed to register just three shots on target, recorded 44% possession, and faced a tough defense that forced three offsides and conceded only 2 corners.

Meanwhile Bayern were issued three yellow cards and committed 12 fouls, showing their aggressive approach.

With this victory, Bayern Munich goes near the top of the early group standings, staking their claim as one of the favorites to lift the UCL.
