A case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act has been filed against renowned Indian hockey player Varun Kumar. The Sports Tak has learned that the allegations of sexual abuse have been leveled against Kumar by a woman, who claims the abuse first occurred in 2019, when she was 17 years old.
According to the information accessed by Sports Tak, Varun Kumar and the girl came in contact through Instagram in 2019 when the Indian hockey player was training at SAI. In her complaint, the girl alleged that Varun 'raped her' multiple times on the pretext of getting married.
The legal proceedings have been initiated at the Jnanabharti police station located in Bangalore. With the case now open, a thorough investigation is set to proceed. Sources indicate that a delegation of police officials from Karnataka is expected to visit Jalandhar to conduct a detailed interrogation of Varun regarding the allegations. The police are still hunting for Varun.
