Vinesh came back to India on August 17 days after the disqualification from the Paris Olympics 2024. Vinesh was the first ever Indian female wrestler who reached the final in the history of the Olympics.

However, she was disqualified from the Paris Olympics after she was found 100 gm overweight ahead of the final. After her disqualification, she appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) for a joint silver medal, which was ultimately denied. She got an emotional welcome by Indian fans on her arrival. Fans even showered flower petals to the star wrestler during her arrival at Indra Gandhi International airport in New Delhi.

On Monday, Vinesh joined nationwide celebrations for Raksha Bandhan, a festival celebrating the bond between brothers and sisters. A video circulating on social media showed Vinesh engaging in light-hearted banter with her brother, playfully commenting on his monetary gift and comparing it to previous years.

Earlier, Vinesh announced her retirement from wrestling a day after her disqualification from the Olympics. While asked about her retirement U-turn, Vinesh's husband Somvir said that he doesn't  want to convince Vinesh to come back on the wrestling mat.

“I have seen that for the last two years, we have no federation, we have no one. We have seen everything, no one has been standing. If there is no one standing with a player, what can the player do? It is impossible for us, it will not happen to the world” Vinesh Phogat's husband
