Cleveland Guardians’ third baseman, Jose Ramirez, caused some concern after exiting Saturday’s game against Kansas City Royals early due to a right wrist sprain. However, positive updates from the team suggest that the superstar is expected to recover quickly and is currently considered day-to-day.
Vogt provides encouraging update on Ramirez
Following the game, Cleveland's manager Stephen Vogt gave an optimistic update on Ramirez’s condition.
He's doing alright. A mild wrist sprain on that slide. He kind of rolled over it. So, he's day-to-day, but we all know what that means with Josey, Vogt shared.
While it's always a cause for concern when a player of Ramirez's caliber is sidelined, Vogt reassured fans, stating that the team would evaluate him further the following day.
We’re gonna see how he feels in the morning. It’s early in the year, but I think I’m gonna have to hold him down to keep him out of there, he added.
Jose Ramirez’s reluctance to sit out
Jose Ramirez has built a reputation for his toughness and commitment to playing, rarely missing games unless dealing with major pain. This makes his early exit from the game particularly noteworthy, as fans quickly noticed Gabriel Arias replacing him at third base.Despite initial concerns, Vogt assured the media that Ramirez had been thoroughly checked by team doctors.
He’s been checked out by the doctors. So, I think we’re all good, said Vogt, putting the minds of Guardians fans at ease.
Though the wrist sprain is minor, Vogt emphasized the importance of caution this early in the season.
Obviously, we’ll reassess in the morning and make sure everything is all good, and we’re not going to take any chances, but Jose wants to play, he noted.
The team will continue to monitor Ramirez’s recovery, but they are committed to ensuring he doesn't aggravate the injury.
As fans eagerly await news of Ramirez’s status, it remains to be seen whether the star will be back in the lineup for Sunday’s series finale. While Ramirez is eager to return, the team’s priority is to prevent any further damage that could lead to a prolonged absence.
The Cleveland Guardians will take on Kansas City Royals on Sunday, March 30.
