LeBron James also mentioned that he is interested in following Tom Brady's footsteps and wants to transition into broadcasting once he retires from the sport.

In the past couple of years, LeBron James has made one thing clear he would love to own a National Basketball Association (NBA) team after his retirement. With the NBA potentially expanding in the coming future, there have been talks about James bringing an NBA franchise out of Las Vegas.

LeBron James has his eyes on Broadcasting too

Even though James wants to own an NBA team, he also wants to try out his hand in the world of broadcasting. While speaking to Mike Golic and his son, Mike Golic Jr., James openly discussed his future plans.

He also mentioned that he is interested in following Tom Brady's footsteps and wants to transition into broadcasting once he retires from the sport. "You know, I don’t know. I definitely love the sport. It would be great (becoming a broadcaster). I see Tom Brady doing it, and he’s been great so far. And, you know, we will see, even if it’s just a guest appearance, you know, one game or two when I’m done playing," James said.

“But it’s always fun to give back to the game because the game has given me so much. So, if it’s basketball, if it’s football, if it’s whatever, I love the word ‘sport’ because it’s given so much to me and my family. And it’s only right that I give back to it,” James added.

LeBron James has set his eyes on broadcasting but he recently signed a two-year extension with the LA Lakers. The extension means that James will play till the 2025-26 season.

There is a chance of bringing a franchise to Las Vegas

There have been talks going on about the expansion of the sport. Commissioner Adam Silver has previously mentioned that the league won’t start the expansion talks till the time they finalise their next media rights deal.

With the media right deal in place, talks about expansion have caught fire and two frontrunners to land a franchise are Las Vegas and Seattle. It is expected that LeBron James will bid for the Vegas franchise.

Lebron James’ longtime friend and business partner, Maverick Carter spoke at the Pat McAfee Show and said, “LeBron is absolutely determined to own an NBA team. But he’s still playing and I have no idea how much longer he’ll be around. I would have thought he would have retired a few years ago, but there he is with his beard, still graying, showing young people that ‘Grandpa’ is still playing.”
