The injury, confirmed by ESPN’s Shams Charania, will sideline Antetokounmpo for at least a week, meaning he will miss the prestigious event in Salt Lake City. With Antetokounmpo's absence, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver will now need to select an injury replacement for the star player.
Trae Young: the leading contender for injury replacement
One name that has immediately emerged as a potential replacement is Atlanta Hawks point guard Trae Young. Despite leading the NBA in assists and being one of the league's top playmakers, Young was notably snubbed during the initial All-Star reserve selection. However, his recent performances have fueled speculation that he may be called upon once again as an injury replacement, just as he was last season.
The Hawks star has been on an impressive run since missing out on the original All-Star nod. In his last five games, Young has posted eye-popping numbers, including 34 points and 17 assists against the Pacers, 34 points and 9 assists versus the Pistons, 32 points and 12 assists against the Spurs, and 24 points and 7 assists versus the Bucks.
