The Houston Rockets will play host to Golden State Warriors for Game 7 of their first round NBA playoff series on Sunday, May 04 at the Toyota Center. All eyes would be on superstar Stephen Curry, whether he features against the Houston Rockets or not.
Will Stephen Curry play against Houston Rockets?
The 37-year-old point guard had played through a thumb injury in the first six games of the series and will do the same when he steps foot on court for Game 7 against the Houston Rockets. The Golden State Warriors have given the green signal to Stephen Curry as he would be available for Game 7 against Rockets on Sunday.
Gary Payton II is also listed as available. The Warriors will be at their full strength but Houston Rockets will be without Jock Landale (knee) and Jae'Sean Tate (ankle).
Due to his current thumb injury, Curry hasn't missed action so far and it wouldn't make any sense to do that now when the season is on the line. The Warriors had the chance to close out the series this week as they had a commanding 3-1 lead after four games. But, the tie turned in the favor of Rockets as Warriors lost Game 5 and 6. Both the games were tough for Stephen Curry and Jimmy Butler.
Curry was able to register only 13 points and seven assists on 4-for-12 shooting in the Game 5 loss. He did better in Game 6 as he recorded 29 points and seven rebounds but struggled to shoot, going 9-for-23. Butler ended Game 5 with just eight points and followed it up with 27 points in Game 6.
Golden State Warriors would he hoping that their star duo stand up for the do or die match and deliver impressive performances. The last two games for the Rockets have seen inspired performance from Fred VanVleet. He notched up 26 points on 8-for-13 shooting to help Rockets win Game 5. During Game 6, VanVleet had 29 points, eight rebounds and eight assists while going 7-for-13 from the field.
The Warriors would need to keep Fred VanVleet in check if they wish to advance to the Western Conference semifinals.
